Skaramica Posip

Terrain: Inland locations on the Island of Korčula, mostly flat and approximately 300 meters above sea level. Red soil with clay stones over a limestone base.

Farming: Organic. No irrigation, minimal amount of spraying in Spring and mid-Summer months, with small amounts of powdered sulfites and occasionally copper.

Vinification: Hand-harvest followed by a couple days of skin maceration and controlled cold fermentation between 16° C - 18° C in stainless steel (inox) tanks. Fermentation is done through high-grade (noncommercial) yeasts. The wine is aged for 8 months in stainless steel (inox) tanks, coarsely fined and filtered before bottling.

Tasting Notes: Pošip is an incredibly old indigenous Croatian varietal that dates back to the 4th century BC (!) that originally comes from the island of Korčula, where Skaramuča family sources the grapes for this wine today. This pošip has a light-golden color, it is loaded with bright aromas of melon and dried herbs. Its salty freshness and tremendous minerality invites you to keep on sipping.

Serve chilled with oysters, shrimp, traditional Dalmatian scampi in brudet sauce, mussels prepared in a variety of ways, grilled white fish, or roasted chicken.

Skaramuca Plavac, 2018

Skaramuca family vineyards are located on the dramatic slopes of Dingac and Postup as well as in the valley on Peljesac Peninsula. Grapes in this wine come from the cooler inland locations with richer soil that produces friengly and inviting plavac. Aromas of plum, cherry and Dalmatian herbs lead to a rustic and earthy palate, but the tannins are softer and the fruit is bright and youthful.Serve at cellar temperature (56F) with cired meats, bbq, burgers, harder cheeses and grilled bluefish or squid

Skaramuca Postup Plavac, 2018

Posup appellation is known for serious and complex plavac mali wines. Not as steep as our Dingac location, these vineyards still produce rich and extracted wines but with slightly softer tannins that are ready to drink earlier. Decant this wine to reveal its aromas of cherry, fig, chocolate and hay. Enjoy it with beef stews, lamb steak, aged cheeses or bitter chocolate

Zlatan Crljenak, 2015

SUSTAINABLE FARMING This is the original and authentic Zinfandel grape! Proven by UC Davis professor Carole Meredith, this grape has ended any speculation about weather or not Croatia is the home of the Zinfandel grape. This vibrant, extracted wine offers bright fruit, fresh cherries and plums on the nose. Great structure and personality! Full body, robust, yet youthful with inviting drinkability. Enjoy it with pasta with meat sauces, roasted and grilled red meats or aged parmeggiano.

Zlatan Otok Cuvee White, 2018

PRACTICING ORGANIC All four varieties in this wine are incredibly old indigenous Dalmatian grapes that date back to the 4th century BC. This indigenous blend is a unique expression of Dalmatian terroir and each grape brings its own character to the wine. This is one of the lighter white wines from Zlatan but it is distinctly Dalmatian - straw-golden color, with denseness and minerality that leaves a thick trail in the glass. Aged solely in stainless steel tanks, it is loaded with bright, full, aromas of dried flowers, melon and figs. A bit leaner and lighter than the famous Posip, this wine is a fresh and savory Adriatic trea

Zlatan Plavac - Otok Hvar, 2015

A premium red wine from Zlatan Plenković, one of Croatia’s best winemakers, that does not carry such an extra-ordinary premium price. The wine is dark ruby in color, with a rich and layered, pleasant, and deep aroma that has undertones of Dalmatian herbs, spices, minerality, saltiness, dark fruit, and a touch of barnyard and “funk.” The wine is warm and comforting on the nose, which is typical of Zlatan’s wines and has given them a specific identity and cult-following in Croatia and Europe. It is immensely structured and balanced, and possesses a refined, complex, and an exceptional presence on the palate that is followed by a long and persistent finish. Zlatan Plavac has long been linked as the traditional drinks of fishermen, peasants and farmers, as well as the exceptional wine connoisseur, with the very best “details” that a Croatian table has to offer during a special occasion.
